Timeline For Development
Here is information to guide you on the time line and process of
development of products at SX Industries, Inc.
This pace is our normal schedule time line. We know many times there are
external forces and pressure to make things happen quicker. We will try
to accommodate you. Just ask! I have seen things done in half the time!
These time lines are subject to certain holidays and shut downs, I.E.
the Chinese New Year which spans approximately
from Mid January to Mid February, (not always the same date due to the
Chinese calendar is a lunar calendar) so for that time period, try to
get development in by November.
On new custom products, if you supply us with a hand sketch, it must
have dimensions, application of use, material and any physical
characteristics you wish to have in the design as well as any
environmental considerations, finish color and polishing requirements to
determine our process of manufacture. Don't worry if this seams
overwhelming, we are here to guide you through this process! If your
sketch is clear and it can be used for a quotation, you can expect a
quote in 7-10 Business days.
Upon quotation, the approximate delivery date and approximate price is
quoted. Approximate is used, because delivery is always confirmed upon
receipt of your written purchase order by return confirmation (or as we
call it a Performa Invoice) This is because of varying backlog and other
influences like raw material availability.
The Performa Invoice is supplied to you in 3-5 Business days, and if you
are a new customer your credit is checked simultaneously, so it is
imperative to send in the credit application timely as well. When both
approvals and Purchase order is received a cad drawing is made for
the finished piece. The cad will take about 5 business days. If you have
many development items, figure on 2 per day, starting 3-5 days in. When
the cad is completed, it will be sent to you. You must sign off on these
designs that they are what you want, scan and resend back to us. This
design stage could go back and forth a few times and would of course
these delays would add to the delivery date.
Once signed off, they make the tooling along with a preproduction run.
We will also finish the sample pieces with secondary operations and
finishing and lab test for dying and/or environmental specifications if
required. This will take approximately 4-6 weeks depending on the
product. Again, the longer you take for approval or make changes this
adds to the delivery date.
Lastly, upon approval for production and depending on how large the run
is, you can expect product at your door for 5-8 weeks. Repeat orders
are 4-8 weeks.
Prices are quoted FOB Hong Kong in US dollars unless otherwise noted.
You have 2 weeks to inspect the parts to confirm if they meet the
specifications. Which they always do!
